Maybe the wiki need a bots to face up to the wiki's spam ? ---> bots against bots .... :-O
Or maybe just blocking the user creation for a while ?

I'm thinking about improving captcha methods. But my time is limited in next 2-3 weeks. Maybe it really worths to close registration for that period?

It worths but we already have many spammer accounts created.

Once improved the captcha, would it be possible to reset the user list and remove all users that has not made any edit in its life? Because, why do a user need one wiki account if it doesn't edit the wiki?

During the last user merge and deletion sessions I've noticed that the user posted more files than the shown in the Recent Changes list. For example, I notice that one user registered, then created a spam page and uploaded an image file. When the account is merged and deleted and the database restored, there appear more modified pages and images uploaded to be removed... Maybe the wiki is reading its IP?

I guess so. That needs to be investigated too.

I'm not sure - partially that may be a bugs in UserMerge, partially - the way how wiki deals with renamed pages...

OK, I have not disabled user registration, but updated MediaWiki and extensions to latest version. Let's see if that change anything...

I wish, for the wiki's modo instructions per cycle, it work so simply with not so much Documentation is not working! ....

We have captcha working, but spam is still coming. I guess we have vulnerability in some installed addon (I even almost sure which one). But unfortunately I have no time to resolve this issue right now - sorry, I'm in tough shedule right now. ^_^" Disabling registration for now, hope to resolve things after the 1st of June!

yep; new google's captcha, but i still think that animated captcha for animated software is cool feature ;-)
