Because of the new features in Synfig Studio 0.63.04 I've updated the Manual page on Previewing to keep it up to date:

http://wiki.synfig.org/wiki/Doc:Preview

The only part I haven't done is the explanation of the Erase All Rendered Frames button because I can't get Synfig Studio to render a preview with some of the frames out of date.

Any suggestions or comments would be very welcome.

It is not easy to capture, I met this issue last week two times, but I don't have idea how to reproduce at all.

Find something with a nice long render time, start it rendering the preview, then change and save the sif file while it's still rendering, maybe? The first part of the preview will show the earlier version of the sif file, the latter the newly saved version. Although why you wouldn't just re-render everything after making a change like that....
