Re: Konstantin's weekly report #7

I've been so busy with other projects that I haven't had any time to animate lately, but I'm very happy to see so much progress being made both here on Synfig and on Pencil2D. You guys are awesome. :)

Re: Advice Needed for a Novice!!

Hi, streamlinedcat. I agree with rylleman about focusing on learning animation itself before getting too involved in software. In addition to the excellent suggestions already made, I think Brian Lemay's video tutorials are great for learning the basics the old-fashioned way. If a student can master...

Re: Animated banner

Hi, Fixed the glitches in the gif banner. I rendered a bunch of png's with Synfig and used the free Gifapp to turn them into a gif. No glitches anymore. :) Greetz! For what it's worth, that would be my preferred solution to gif generation problems in Synfig: output a png sequence and use an externa...

Re: DocumentFreedomDay:Let's get rid of non-free Flash websi

I've just recently uninstalled Flash on my Linux Mint box at home. Ironically, my day job is programming Flash, so I still use it at work on Windows. But I'm on a campaign to get my company to ditch Flash by the end of the year.

Re: Development priorities to be discussed at LGM 2013 Madri

You can solve the problem by learning to use more programs than one in your workflow.

I use more programs before breakfast than most people use all day. :)

Re: Development priorities to be discussed at LGM 2013 Madri

As I think I've said elsewhere, frame-by-frame support is my biggest need. It's included in Genete's list as part of number 3. As for the rest of that list, it looks pretty good to me. :)

How did I not know about Brian Lemay's site until now? Thanks for posting the link!

Re: Synfig Studio runs very well in KDE

I've become a huge fan of KDE over the last year or so. I find Synfig runs very well on the KDE flavor of Linux Mint. As a bonus, Krita is great on KDE (as one would expect) so you get an up-and-coming os painting program in the bargain.

Re: Help to improve the future of Synfig

Animation Developers are not using anymore vector graphics for cartoons. Every cartoon is 3d model cel rendered this days. Leaving aside your larger point about Synfig's potential role in HTML5, that statement just isn't true. There are plenty of cartoons being made with software products like Toon...

Re: Help to improve the future of Synfig

So why don't people see this? Why don't we have dozens of coders knocking for patches acceptation and hundreds of users requesting new features? I think it's two main things and, in this case, the order does matter: 1) The perception, justified or not, that no really "good" ( or "pro...

Re: Opportunity for revamping Synfig's UI

I know (and appreciate :) ) that you are constantly working on some aspect of Synfig. I'm hoping that we can come up with a way to enlist a few more developers for the specific task of revamping the UI. What do you think it would take to put together a small team? Maybe an impressive-enough short an...

Opportunity for revamping Synfig's UI

Hi everybody, Over on Google+, I've been in a little discussion with Nina Paley about trying to pull together a small team of developers to rework the Synfig UI to make it more animator friendly. It's my belief that the odd, non-traditional UI is the main thing holding back wider adoption and use of...
